The chance for a Chosen to appear on a mission is based on territory and their own separate timer.Which can then be equipped on soldiers after a research project on that Chosen's equipment is completed. Each Chosen will grant XCOM their unique weapons when they are defeated in the Citadel. The Chosen on the strategy layer will cripple XCOM by using different tactics, such as reducing XCOM's income. The opponent that appears will almost always be the Chosen in control that mission's region. All Chosen are immune to all mental impairment status (Disoriented, Panicked, Stunned, Mind Controlled, etc).Their power develops as the game progress, gaining new strengths and increasing health, damage, and armor. At least one of their weaknesses will be from one of the Resistance Faction soldiers (Reaper, Templar or Skirmisher). Each Chosen has random strengths and weaknesses that will always be unique to each member.
Given enough information, said Chosen can then assault the Avenger.
The Chosen can all daze (an effect similar to Stunned) soldiers, and from there can kidnap and interrogate them for information. This will continue occurring until the Citadel Assault Mission is successfully completed. When a Chosen is killed on a mission, it is resurrected at their Citadel and can appear again in future missions. The Chosen are able to appear on missions and harass XCOM soldiers. Known similarities between the Chosen include: They are boss-type enemies similar to the Alien Rulers, but with some key differences. You read more about this in the chapter "Relationships between soldiers".The Chosen are three new unique alien enemies introduced in XCOM 2: War of the Chosenas the titular main antagonists, consisting of the Assassin, Warlock, and Hunter. This is a great way to develop a bond of soldiers - some missions give you a reward for advancing to a higher level, which in the case of 2 to 3 level advancement can save you the need of sending soldiers for up to a dozen or so missions. Covert Actions are a great way to develop the less often used soldiers, as some of them offer an immediate boost to the next level. If an operation allows allocation of another soldier or resource (engineering/a scientist) to decrease the likelihood of the given thread (especially capturing soldiers), always do it! The costs are ridiculously low most of the time, and the missions of rescuing soldiers aren't very easy. The more difficult the mission, the more threads there will be (they'll be more likely to occur as well). Remember that a good portion of the missions only has a single risk factor - soldier getting wounded. Keep that in mind when you're planning a difficult mission - making a mistake here will prevent you from using your favorite soldiers when they're needed. You cannot abort such an Operation the soldiers will be unavailable. Only one team can perform a Covert Operation. Lets finish off with some advice concerning the discussed mechanics: The capture causes you to lose access to the soldier, and it will be necessary to rescue him from the hands of the alien, and the ambush forces you to take part in the mission where you have to get to the escape point, using only the soldiers who were sent to the action. If a soldier is wounded, they will need several days to heal after the operation.
Here you will find information on chances of soldiers getting wounded, captured, or ambushed. Often, the mission places additional demands - sending a third soldier, sacrificing a small amount of resources / intelligence, or even sending a scientist / engineer to reduce the risk of casualties. Every action requires sending at least two soldiers. Soldiers required to finish the quest ( 3).A list of actions is on the left ( 1) - you'll find all available missions here. The whole window is divided into several parts: There will be several to a dozen missions here, depending on how many resistance groups you have already managed to establish contact with and in what relationships you are. When approaching the newly created station, there will be a button at the bottom of the screen that is responsible for Covert Actions.
